Setback
to BJP again - now it is Arunachal Pradesh
In
a major set back to BJP in Arunachal Pradesh, Congress has managed to convince
the rebel group MLAs and ensured majority in the assembly. When Supreme Court
has quashed President's rule in the State on July 13, Nabam Tuki was reinstated
as the Chief Minister on the evening of same day. But the governor has asked
Tuki to prove his majority in the assembly on Saturday, July 16. There was not
much time and BJP expected to topple Tuki's government. However, hours before
the scheduled test, he resigned and the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) chose
Khandu to be its new leader.
Since
the rebel team's main demand was to change Tuki, they accepted this proposal
and came back to congress fold with 30 dissident legislators.
So,
in the 60 member assembly Congress has support of 47 legislators, including 2
independents.
Once
again it is a set back to BJP after its experience in Uttarkand State in May 2016.
